When children enter our doors, they
receive a healthy meal, gain access to caring mentors, and participate in positive programs to identify
a pathway out of poverty. All programs and meals are provided free of charge. We serve low-income
youth ages 5-24. Our services are delivered through three components:
1. Group Mentoring: Youth participate in small group programs led by a Group Leader and adult
volunteers. All volunteers and staff must pass a Level 2 Background Check. We strive for an intimate
ratio of 1 adult per 4 students. Programs emphasize the following: 1. Academic enrichment; 2. Life
skills; and 3. Vocational training
2. One -on -One Mentoring: Our evidence -based, one-on-one mentoring program pairs a caring adult
mentor with a student, offering the opportunity for an even deeper and more meaningful relationship. One-
on-one mentors agree to a one-year commitment to meet with the child a minimum of two hours per week.
3. Parent Aide: The newest addition to Youth Guidance programming, the Parent Aide program utilizes an
evidence -based approach from the National Exchange Club. Trained staff members visit the homes of
children who are enrolled in Youth Guidance and are at risk of abuse and neglect. They provide supportive
and educational services to parents to help them become advocates for their children's success.
C.
