DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />On February 19, 1993, the Board of County Commissioners approved <br />the establishment of a Capital Improvement Program for the Primary <br />and Secondary Communications Centers from the 911 Surcharge Fee as <br />provided for in Chapter 365.171(13)(a)(3), Florida Statutes. Since <br />that time, the funds have been accumulating in this account and as <br />of June 6, 1996, the cash in the fund totals $435,188. <br />It should be noted that $240,000 has been committed by the Board to <br />be utilized as part of the overall approved expenditure for the <br />countywide 800 MHz Trunked Radio Communications System b'oing <br />purchased and installed under contract with Ericsson, which leaves <br />a balance of $195,188 in this account. <br />Certain renovations will have to be completed and consoles <br />purchased for the new Maestro C-3 Ericsson radio computer <br />workstations to be installed. The Maestro 800 MHz workstations and <br />the communications consoles should not be confused. By contract, <br />Ericsson is responsible for providing and installing the computer <br />workstations in the communications consoles. However, the new <br />communications equipment is not compatible with the old consoles <br />and new ones need to be purchased by the County. This fact was <br />known prior to approval of the 800 MHz contract and staff planned <br />to utilize funds from the 911 surcharge account for this purpose <br />separate from the contract. <br />The following is a description of the labor expenses and scope of <br />services that staff is informed will need to be completed at the <br />E911 Center for the renovation project: <br />ITEM <br />DESCRIPTION <br />PRICE <br />1 <br />Relocate bldg fire alarms, door alarms, <br />$2,240 <br />UPS alarms, and cable TV.
