Collaboration with our arts
organizations/promoting them and their events is one of our main focuses. We worked closely with the Gifford Historical
Museum and Cultural Center co -sponsoring a grant application for $493,000, Vero Beach Art Club with their Under the
Oaks Art Show, The Sebastian Art and Music Festival, The Community Church initiative to bring Chamber Music
Society of Lincoln Center to our county, the Vero Beach Film Festival, and The Indian River Chamber connecting them
with local artists featured in their "Visit Indian River" ads, to name a few. The IRC Chamber's recent report indicates
arts and cultural opportunities are a huge factor in attracting tourism. Research indicates an art or cultural event
influenced the choice of destination for travels in more than 35million surveyed and is the 4th largest driver of decisions
when planning a trip. The Cultural Council's programs aimed at supporting tourism include digital marketing, print
publications, broadcast marketing, Web, Cultural Concierge Service, and information distribution at our main office and
at local festivals and events as well as in all four (4) WELCOME TO FLORIDA VISITOR CENTERS.
TDC funds are instrumental in our programs. We continue to increase social media outreach and to continue the
electronic copy of our ever popular Arts and Culture Guide available in hardcopy as well. The electronic copy is
accessible through our website to be shared with potential visitors from all areas of the globe.
The $493,000 state grant we have received for the development of the architectural plans for the Gifford Historical
Museum and Cultural Center is the first giant step in creating what will become an additional major tourist attraction in
our county.
Our partnership with the Indian River County Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America to build a World
War II monument on Memorial Island has reached far and wide with contributions from more than 50 of the 240
donations received to date from out-of-state, spanning from Alaska, to California, to Texas, to Nebraska, to Illinois, to
New York, to Maine... These many contributors are future tourists who will visit IRC and the memorial they helped
build.
JU111111CUy RCPVII
Amount requested from Indian River County for 2023/2024: $65,000.00
Total Proposed Program budget for 2023/2024: $215,500.00
Percent of total Program budget: 30.16%
Current Funding (2022/2023) $54,593.00
Dollar increase / (decrease) in request: $10,401.00
Percent increase / decrease in request: 19.06%
f request increased 5% or more, briefly explain why:
The Cultural Council will use the additional funds to:
Increase the number of Cultural Arts Guides to supply adequate copies to all four (4) VISIT FLORIDA WELCOME
CENTERS and to ship additional quantities to them as needed throughout the year.
Increase in paid social media ads better targeting specific populations for specific events is planned as well.
Continued development of the new Gifford Cultural Center.
The Organization's Board of Directors has approved this application on (date): 04/18/2023
Name of President/Chair of the Board: Yvonne Steere, Chair
Name of Exec.
