� <br />� <br />Te Sebastian Airport/Golf Course complex and the Wabasso Scrub <br />Conservation Area (Polygon 54). <br />� <br />` 2. Removal of exotic anm/ nuisance species. This directive is primarily targeted at <br />the Brazilian pepper that ,has colonized within the North Sebastian Conservation <br />Area along the disturbed edges ofhistorically paved roads and jeep vo||o. The <br />height ofthe Brazilian pepper presents m potential curtain between contiguous <br />'.� <br />scrub-jayfamiUoo. <br />- <br />The recommended mnVod for Brazilian pepper eradication on the North <br />| ` Gobondon Conservation Area is Cut Stump. The Cut Stump eradication <br />p"uoodu,o involves the cutting of the Brazilian pepper down to ground -level <br />using o houd aavv or chain saw. The stump will not be removed, as this <br />` pmcdno disturbs moi|u' promoting erosion and providing disturbed ground for <br />' <br />pepper seed rogononedun. Within five <5> minutes o/ nu«io0 the stem, an <br />_ <br />appropriate herbicide, such as Rodeow or Gadonm will he applied to the ' <br />� <br />exposed cambium layer. The Cut vegetation will oi/ho, be stacked on site arid <br />`~ <br />burned during the k,||ovvioS prescribed fire or completely removed from the <br />� <br />site. Whenever possible, the eradication activity will boconducted during the <br />^ <br />months from May through Oombn, to achieve the best muu|ho from the <br />herbicide treatment and toreduce seed dispersal. <br />, <br />� 5.3.2.2 RESTORATION BURNING TREATMENTS <br />For purposes o[implementing the restoration burning program to initiate the momn of <br />optimal scrub -jay habitat conditions tothe Scrub -Jay Habitat Compensation Areas, a <br />. <br />total of 19 Management Units (MUs) have been established ranging in size from 1.5± <br />oomm to 110.6± oueu. Table 8 provides the total aumaVn of aaoh of the NlUo' <br />| <br />inclusive nfembedded wetland communities. <br />Figures 10, 11. and 12 provide the location and extent of the designated KxUs <br />displayed on o DOO for ouox Sxmh.Jay Hvb|m\ Compensation Area.
