40 <br />a <br />R <br />4. Reinforcement shall be cleaned of all scale and excessive <br />rust. All reinforcement shall be set with the standard <br />accessories per A.C.I. 315-74. Minimum concrete coverage <br />of reinforcement steel shall be as follows; <br />a. Footings - 3" min. <br />b. Slabs - 3/4" min. <br />C. Beams and Columns - 1-1/2" min. <br />5. The Contractor shall properly set all anchors and bolts <br />required for blocking, equipment, etc.. <br />8. The Contractor shall utilize mechanical means for consol- <br />idation of concrete as well as ensure no segregation of <br />materials. <br />7. All concrete driveways shall be cured a minimum of seven <br />(7) days at a minimum temperature of 50 degrees Fahren- <br />heit before any vehicular traffic is allowed on drives. <br />8. Finishing tolerance for floor slabs shall be 1/8 inch in <br />10 feet. <br />9. The Contractor shall provide all expansion material, cold <br />joints, control joints (mechanical or saw -cut) and <br />expansion joints as indicated and specified on the <br />drawings. <br />10. Concrete testing is to be by an independent testing lab <br />and shall consist of, but is not limited to, the <br />following: <br />Slump Test: one test for each load of concrete at the <br />point of discharge; slump not to exceed 5-1/2". <br />Compressive Strength 'rest: Randomly test cylinders <br />taken at each major pour; footings, floor slabs, <br />columns and tie -beams. Two (2) specimens are to be <br />tested at 7 days and three (3) specimens tested at 28 <br />days. <br />All test results are to be reported, in writing, to the <br />owner, the Architect, the Contractor and the Concrete <br />Producer on the day tests are performed. <br />11. Concrete walkways are to have a light broom finish. The <br />Contractor shall provide saw -cut control joints at 5'-0" <br />o.c. or at walkway intersections and when abutting a <br />building slab. The concrete shall be saw -cut within 24 <br />hours of the pour. The walkway shall be sloped su as to <br />insure no standing water. <br />12. All slabs on grade are to be Regular 3/4 rock concrete at <br />3000 psi ultimate strength at 28 days. NO PUMP MIX,(pea- <br />rock), will be allowed for any slabs on prepared grade. <br />This does not prohibit the pumping of the regular 3/4 <br />rock mix. <br />***END OF SECTION*** <br />03010-2 <br />
