• <br />i PART 2 r£�{lP DUCJS <br />MASONRY UNITS, GENERAL: <br />Manufacturer: Obtain masonry units from one manufacturer, of <br />uniform texture and color for each kind required, for each <br />continuous area and visually related areas. <br />FACE BRICK: Provide clay brick shown on contract documents. <br />Color, texture, finish and configuration per plans. <br />1. A.S.T.M. C-216 latest edition, Grade SW, Type FBX. <br />2. Dimensions: standard or jumbo. See plans. <br />3, Minimum compressive strength B4O00 pai. <br />4. Maximum saturation coefficient 0.78. <br />5. Minimum IRA 6 g/30 sq, in. <br />6. Maximum TRA 30 g/30 sq. in. Where IRA exceeds 30g/30 <br />sq. in, pre -wetting brick is recommended. <br />7. Shapes; where special shapes are shown on architectural <br />drawings, manufacturer shall provide shop drawings for <br />architect's approval prior to manufacturing shapes. <br />Mortar: Type S consisting by proportion- 1 part <br />Portlandcement (A.S.T.M. 0150, Type1 or Type 11, Low Alkali), <br />1/2 part hydrated lime (A.S.T.M. 0207) and 4 1/2 parts sand <br />(A.S.T.M. 0144). <br />Bond: Running Bond unless otherwise shown on the plans. <br />Jointing: Concave unless otherwise shown on the plans. <br />Construction: Strictly adhere to Uniform Building Code see. <br />2104 or ACT 530.1.2.3. <br />CONCRETE BLOCK: Provide units complying with characteristics <br />indicated below for Grade, Type, face size, exposed face and, <br />under each form of block included, for weight classification. <br />Grade N. <br />Grade N except Grade 5 may be used above grade in <br />exterior walls with weather protective coatings and in <br />walls not exposed to weather-. <br />Size; _ Manufacturer's shandard units with nominal face <br />dimensions of 16" long x 8" high (15-5/8" x 7-5/8" <br />actual) x thicknesses indicated. <br />Type I, moisture.controlled units. <br />ollow Loadbearing Block: ASTM C 90 and as follows: <br />Weight Classification: Normal weight. <br />04200-2 <br />
