40 <br />GENERAL <br />A. All of the types of valves and appurtenances shall be products of well <br />established reputable firms who are fully experienced and qualified in <br />the manufacture of the particular equipment to be furnished. The <br />equipment shall be designed, constructed and installed in accordance with. <br />the best practices and methods and shall comply with these specifications as <br />applicable. <br />B. All valves and appurtenances shall have the name of the maker and <br />the working pressure for which they are designed cast in raised letters upon <br />some appropriate part of the body. <br />WATER SERVICE TAPS <br />A. Service saddles with fusion bonded plastic coated, ductile iron bodies <br />having stainless steel double strops and clastorneric gasket shall be used <br />for all taps. Corporation stops shall be brass with IPS inlet thread and <br />compression outlet for polyethylene tubing, and shall conform to AWWA <br />0800. <br />CORPORATION COCKS <br />A. Corporation cocks for connections to ductile iron or PVC piping shall be <br />all brass or bronze suitable for 150 psi operating pressure, shall be iron <br />pipe thread design,and similar to Mueller Co. H-10045, or equal, and <br />shall be of the same size water service tubing as shown and/or noted on the <br />Drawings. <br />4. FLEXIBLE COUPLINGS <br />A. Flexible couplings shall be either the split type or the sleeve type as shown <br />on the Drawings or as further specified hereafter. <br />1. Split type coupling shall be used with all interior piping and <br />with exterior piping as noted on the Drawings. The couplings <br />shall be mechanical type for radius groove piping. The <br />couplings shall mechanically engage and lock grooved pipe ends <br />in a positive couple and allow for angular deflection and <br />contraction and expansion. <br />2. Couplings shall consist of malleable iron, ASTM Specification <br />A47, Grade 32510 housing clamps in two or more pans, a single <br />chlorinated butyl composition sealing gasket with a "C" shaped <br />cross-section and internal sealing lips projecting diagonally inward, <br />and two or more oval track head type bolts with hexagonal heavy <br />nuts conforming to ASTM Specification A183 and A194 to <br />assemble the housing clamps. Bolts and nuts shall be hot dipped <br />galvanized after fabrication. <br />3. Victaulic type couplings and fittings may be used in lieu of 4 <br />flanged joints. Pipes shall be radius grooved as specified for use <br />with the Victaulic couplings. Flanged adapter connections at <br />fittings, valves, and equipment shall be Victautic Vic Flange <br />Style 741, equal by GustinBacon Group, Division of Ccrtain-Teed <br />Products, Kansas City, Kansas, or equal. <br />xr-i <br />
