i
4D
•
•
STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
BUREAU OF FACILITIES SERVICESsr',j1T!
MEMO TO: Bill Thurber
Director of Administration
FROM: Bob Staney
DATE: November 22, 1999 v
SUBJECT: Indian River Landfill Gas Feasibility Study — Project TL-23(ST)
Attached is a proposal from Indian River County Landfill Director for the Department of
Corrections to participate in a feasibility study using landfill gas to provide all electric
power for IRCI.
Their contract engineers will perform the study. The Department of Corrections will pay
half of the cost, which is $7,991.
This agreement is the result of a preliminary analysis by our staff, meetings with the
Indian Diver Landfill Director, engineers, and engineers from the Federal EPA. Based
on these exploratory meetings, there is enough evidence of the feasibility of power
generation using methane gas from the landfill that further analysis is justified.
I recommend that we accept this proposal.
Chief
TTngineeringlrougliertylwoiddorS%BitesNindian RNeAlandgas mesm tis 10 bl dGe
