After performing an inspection of the AST It has been determined that the
course of action will need to hr: tho tompornry storage of approximately 8,000
gallons of 98% H,SO, for approximately two weeks while the AST is cleaned,
inspected, and repaired, Temporary storage of the 98% H,SO, will be in 2,000 -
gallon poly tanks suitable for short-term acid use (i e , less than three years
continuous contact). However, the poly tanks will need to be fitted with CPVC
fittings sealed with VIl ON 0 -rings prior to being put into service as temporary
acid storage. ACT will provide for Indian River County's use a double-diaphragrn
acid purnp to transfer acid to day tank during AST work.
The AST will be cleaned of residual acid and washed with a 3,000 psi pressure
washer. Once the tank interior is cleaned the interior surface will be visually
examined for pitting, corrosion, and/or cracks. In addition, the steel tank shell
will be inspected at randomly selected locations with an ultrasonic thickness
gauge to measure tank wall thickness. Following all tank inspections the leaking
pipe nipple underneath the tank will be cut away with a new nipple and flange
welded into place.
After the tank has been repaired the remaining H,SO, in temporary storage will
be returned to the AST. The poly tanks will be cleaned on site after all acid has
been transferred to the AST.
DESCRIPTION
UNITS
QTY.
UNIT
TOTAL
COST
Transfer H,SO, and Clean
lump
1
$4,262.00
$4,262.00
16,000 -Gallon AST
sum
Temporary Acid Storage
2,000 -Gallon Poly Tanks
week
2
$120.00
$960.00
CPVC Tank Fitting Upgrade
each
4
$250.00
$1,000.00
Acid Diaphragm Pump
week
2
$342.00
$684.00
Poly Tank Gleaning
each
4
$225.00
$90000
Tank Interior Visual and Ultrasonic
lump
1
$1,995.00
$1,995.00
i2ilaeettonsum
Tank Repair
lump
1
$650.00
$650.00
Sum
Total
$10,451.00
V0' d E:C 1 1 VES 299=G1
A*C*T
IM:3.1. di•100 NW) IH314V 6 V : Z 1 00-£:Z.-00
