also seals cracks inherent in soil -cement base roadways. County staff proposes <br />to use this technology in Vero Highlands Subdivision and on 8th Street between <br />82nd Avenue and 90th Avenue. Volusia County has competitively bid this type <br />work and has a current contract with Florida Highway Products, Inc. Staff <br />proposes utilizing the Volusia County bid as is allowed by the Indian River County <br />Purchasing Manual. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />As indicated in the Road and Bridge Superintendents memo dated Aug 23. 1996, <br />the staff has inspected micro -resurfacing projects in Seminole County and Polk <br />County. The technology is performing well and applying it would save $16,000 on <br />the 8th Street project alone. The following alternatives are presented: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Piggy -back the Volusia County contract with Florida Highway <br />Products, Inc. for micro -resurfacing of 1.6 miles of roads in Vero <br />Highlands Subdivision and 8th Street between 90th Avenue and <br />82nd Avenue. The estimated cost is $64.000. Funds are available in <br />the'FY95-96 Road and Bridge Division budget. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny the request and pursue other options. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1 whereby the micro -resurfacing is approved <br />and the Volusia County Contract with Florida Highway Products. Inc. is utilized. <br />Funding to be from Fund 111-214-541-035.31 (Road and Bridge Division). <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved <br />the micro -resurfacing, piggy -backing the Volusia <br />County Contract with Florida Highway Products, Inc., <br />Alternative No. 1 as recommended by staff. <br />COPY OF CONTRACT WILL BE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE <br />CLERK TO THE BOARD WHEN EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />CITY OF FELLSMERE - INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT - FELLS <br />BASKETBALL COURT <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of July 30, 1996: <br />TO: James E. P.E.. <br />Public Works Direct <br />SUBJECT: Interlocal Agreement between Indian River County and the City of <br />Fellsmere, Florida <br />DATE: July 30. 1996 <br />Indian River County applied to the State for a Grant from the Florida Recreation <br />Development Assistance Program for the construction of a basketball court in the <br />Fellsmere Park.
