RESOLUTION NO. 2024- 019 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION TO WIDEN AND <br />IMPROVE 26TH STREET FROM 66th AVENUE EAST TO 43" AVENUE TO INCLUDE <br />BIKE LANES AND SIDEWALKS ON BOTH SIDES OF ROADWAY FOR THE 2024 <br />TRANSPORTATION REGIONAL INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM (TRIP) <br />APPLICATION FOR THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT). <br />WHEREAS, the roadway construction to widen and improve, with the addition of sidewalks, <br />and bike lanes along 26th Street is in the IRC MPO 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan and the <br />Capital Improvement Element of the County's Comprehensive plan; and <br />WHEREAS, on February 14, 2024, the Indian River County Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization (MPO) Board approved this project to be added on their List of Priority Projects <br />(LOPP); and <br />WHEREAS, the project will connect to other planned improvement projects, such as the <br />widening of Aviation Boulevard from 4311 Avenue to US 1, and the extension of Aviation Boulevard <br />to the County's medical corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, the construction of the project is located within Indian River County right-of- <br />way of 26th Street. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, has requested Indian River <br />County submit to the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, this Resolution of Support <br />for the 2024 TRIP application; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to sign and <br />submit to the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, a Resolution of Support for the 26th <br />Avenue Improvement project. The maintenance of said roadway, sidewalks and bike paths will be <br />maintained by the Indian River County once completed. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner Flescher <br />moved its adoption.
