E <br />40 <br />was designed, The special clothing may afford protection <br />only for certain chemicals and may be penetrated by <br />chemicals for which it was not designed. <br />Do not assume any protective clothing is fire resistant <br />unless it is specifically stated by the manufacturer. <br />Full -encapsulated protective clothing (cocoons) can be used <br />for no fire spills and leaks requiring evacuation of people, <br />but offer little or no thermal protection. <br />Level A Recommended Personal Protective Equipment <br />includes: <br />Pressure -demand, full face piece self-contained <br />breathing apparatus (SCBM or pressure -demand <br />supplied -air respirator with escape SCBA; <br />Fully -encapsulating, chemical -resistant suit; <br />3. Inner chemical -resistant gloves; <br />4. Chemical -resistant safety boots/shoes; <br />Two-way radio communications; and <br />6. Optional: boot covers, cooling unit, coveralls, <br />disposable gloves, hard hat, lona cotton underwear. <br />Level B (Firefighters Protective Clothing - structural) <br />provides protection by restricting inhalation of, ingestion of, <br />or skin contact with hazardous vapors, liquids, and solids. <br />This clothing may not provide adequate protection from <br />poisonous vapors or liquids encountered during hazardous <br />materials incidents.
