4b <br />The Indian River County Department of Emergency Services will activate <br />the Emergency Alert System (EAS) to notify the public of a general <br />emergency caused by a hazardous material release. <br />Residents and transients will be advised to tune to the following radio <br />and television stations for detailed information and instructions: <br />RADIO <br />TELEVISION <br />WQCS-FM (89,9) <br />WPBF - ABC <br />WSCF-FM (91.9) <br />WPEC - CBS <br />WZZR-FM (92.7) <br />WPTV - NBC <br />WGYL-FM (93.7) <br />WWCI - INDEP. <br />WAVW-PM (10 1.7) <br />Government Access: <br />WQOL-FM (103.7) <br />Charter (CH. 35) <br />WARE -AM (1370) <br />AT&T (CH. 13) <br />WTTB-AM 1490 <br />Additionally, the Indian River County Department of Emergency Services <br />has a cable interrupt capability, through Charter Communications ( and <br />AT&T Cablevision services, which would allow for notification of <br />significant events through the above cable systems. <br />As a backup, police and fire rescue vehicles equipped with public address <br />systems will move throughout the area advising residents of the <br />protective actions they should take based on the severity of the <br />emergency in accordance with the response agencies' established <br />procedures. At night or because of air-conditioned buildings, a vehicle <br />with sirens should be used to awaken or get the attention of residents <br />and precede a second vehicle which gives instructions by loudspeaker. <br />If a toxic cloud is already in the air, information contained in Media <br />Release B, Figure 6-2, should be given by loudspeaker at this time. <br />Boaters in the waters near affected facilities will be notified of the <br />emergency by loud speakers from boats and aircraft operated by the <br />Florida Marine Patrol, Florida Game/Fresh Water Fish Commission, Indian <br />River County Sheriff's Department, Vero Beach Police Department, Indian <br />River County Emergency Services Fire/Rescue Division, and U.S. Coast <br />Guard. <br />Indian River County Emergency Plan for Hazardous Materials Page 79 <br />
