Zito, Deputy County Administrator <br />Cindy Emerson, Community Services Director <br />From: Megan Kendrick, Human Services Manager <br />Subject: Children's Services Contingency Funding for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On June 20, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Children Service's program <br />funding allocations for fiscal year 2023-2024. The approved funding included an additional <br />allocation to two specific children's programs should contingency funds become available due to <br />default, noncompliance, or early termination of an awarded contract. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />For the fiscal year 2023-2024, the Substance Awareness Center was awarded $50,000 for the <br />Adolescent Substance Use Outpatient Treatment program. However, the agency has faced <br />challenges in utilizing these funds due to difficulties in hiring qualified staff to deliver the program. <br />Consequently, on April 2, 2024, the agency formally notified the Children's Services Advisory <br />Committee (CSAC) of their decision to terminate the program contract, resulting in the de - <br />obligation of the grant funding. <br />On April 2, 2024, the CSAC approved reallocating the de -obligated funding as designated in the <br />approved program funding allocations for fiscal year 2023-2024. The programs are prioritized <br />based on the approved funding allocation as follows: <br />Agency/Program Funding Funding Contingency <br />Request Awarded Amount <br />1.
