Titkanich, Jr., County Administrator <br />Kirstin Leiendecker, P.E., Acting Public Works Director <br />Mark Winslow, P.E., Project Engineer <br />FROM: Jill Williams, Contract Support Specialist <br />SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Work Order 22 with MBV Engineering, Inc. <br />Trans -Florida Railway Trail from Fellsmere to W. of 1-95 (IRC -2115) <br />DATE: May 2, 2024 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On August 7, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved Work Order No. 22 to MBV Engineering, <br />Inc. This work order tasked them with preparing civil design plans for a 1.4 -mile segment of the Trans -Florida <br />Railway Trail extending from the trail overpass west of 1-95. The Plan entailed the construction of an asphalt <br />paved trail, similar in design to the existing trail built in 2018. The approved amount for Work Order No. 22 <br />totaled $84,750.00. <br />Following bid and award, construction commenced on January 8, 2024, and as the project progressed into <br />construction, unforeseen field conditions, not evident during the design process, required design revisions <br />by the Engineer of Record. These conditions included areas of muck that required back fill and drainage <br />adjustments. Additionally, staff requested modifications to extend the trail westward to facilitate integration <br />with another section of the trail, the City of Fellsmere will be constructing. <br />Amendment No. 1 to Work Order No. 22 in the amount of $5,500.00 is for the re -design and extension of the <br />trail. The new total of Work Order No. 22 will be $90,250.00. <br />FUNDING <br />Funding is budgeted and available from Account No. 31521441-066510-21035/Optional Sales Tax/Trans <br />Florida Railway Trail in a not -to -exceed amount of $5,500.00. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners approve Amendment No. 1 to Work Order No. 22 in <br />a not -to -exceed amount total of $5,500.00 with MBV Engineering, Inc. and authorize the Chairman to execute <br />the same. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Amendment No. 1 to Work Order No. 22 <br />APPROVED AGENDA ITEM FOR MAY 21, 2024 <br />C:\Granicus\Legistar5\L5\Temp\bffdfc54-ffOd-4bf1-967c-Oa 71c745a353.docx 17 <br />t <br />t <br />i <br />
