r ] <br />40 <br />4D <br />Preferred characteristics of this facility include: <br />• The building and its access road are located outside the Category 5 storm surge innundation. <br />• The building and its access road are located outside the 506 -year floodplain (none X), <br />• The building is in good condition with no apparent signs of deterioration. <br />• The buildings' exterior walls are constructed of fully reinforced masonry. <br />• No evidence of degradation is present on roof. <br />• An Emergency Standby Power Generator exists on site. <br />Marginal characteristics of thus facility include: <br />• The building has a flat, lightweight roof system: <br />• Evidence of minor ponding was present on roof. <br />• Light steel frame and cantilever walls exist. <br />• Minimal hazards within lay -down range of building. <br />• There is a limited exposure to wind-borne debris. <br />Non -,compliant characteristic of this facility include. <br />The building has unprotected windows and doors that lead into shelter areas. <br />Retrofit Recommendation: <br />M*9 <br />• <br />Install shutters or other protective systems on unprotected systems windows to exterior doors to <br />meet the SBC Standard SSTD 12-94 of Dade County version of the South Florida Building <br />Code (Section 2314.1, 2314.5 and 1-2314.4). <br />Minor (Please note that while these minor retrofit recommendations will enhance the integrity of <br />shelter space evaluated they will not increase potential usable shelter square footage.) <br />• Remove potential lay -down hazards. <br />• Remove potential debris hazards. <br />• Secure portable classrooms and mobile homes on the site. <br />
