40 <br />FINAL REPORT <br />EHC'UTIYF SUMMARY <br />SHELTER EVALUATIONS for THE S'T'ATE OF FLORIDA <br />ID No.: 213 <br />Survey hate: December 3, 1998 <br />Facility Name: Sebastian River Middle School. <br />Address: 9400 County Road 512 <br />Coordinates: <br />Latitude: N2746'09" <br />Longitude: W80031'01" <br />Discussion: <br />Sebastian River Middle School is located on County Road 512 approximately 1 and 1/2 miles east of [-95. <br />Under the direction of the Indian River Department of Emergency Management, the entire structure, <br />classrooms, cafeteria and hallway areas of this school were evaluated as a possible hurricane evacuation <br />shelter. The only exclusion area was the gymnasium. <br />Flood and Ilazmat Considerations: <br />The building and access roads are located outside the Catalory 5 storm surge inundation zone, as <br />determined by the latest edition of SLOS13. The building and it's roads are also outside of the 500 year <br />flood plain (Zone X) as determined by Panel 78 0£ 169 of Flood Insurance Rate Map 1112061 C0078 E with <br />an effective date of May 4, 1999. The campus has a site elevation averaging 20 feet above mean sea level <br />with a finished floor elevation for the structure of 22.5 feet. The structures surveyed are within the <br />Vulnerability Zone of two Section 302 facilities that have a low release potential in a hurricane event. <br />Wind and Wind-Rclated Considerations: <br />The northern exposure`s topography is flat, heavily wooded with a playing field separating the school and <br />wooded area. Southern exposure is compris=d of lightly wooded, flat topography with what appears to be <br />
