21.6 Newly hired probationary employees may be dismissed at any time at the <br /> discretion of the County and are not entitled to the grievance/arbitration <br /> procedures or payments of sick leave or vacation leave at time of termination. <br /> 21.7 If an employee who is serving a probationary period incurred as a result of a <br /> promotion is found to be unqualified to perform the duties of the higher position, a <br /> good faith effort will be made to return the employee to the position and status <br /> held immediately prior to the promotion. If the employee's former position is <br /> filled, the employee may be transferred to a vacant position for which the <br /> employee qualifies. If no vacancy exists for which the employee is qualified, the <br /> employee will be placed in a lay-off status with recall rights. <br /> 27 <br />
