Proclamation <br />HONORING WILLIAM K. DEBRAAL FOR 21 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />-Whereas, William K. DeBraal, is retiring from the Indian River County Attorney's Office, effective August <br />30, 2024; and <br />-Whereas, William K. DeBraal started his career with the Indian River County Attorney's Office on July 7, <br />2003, as Assistant County Attorney. He, worked diligently, and was promoted to Deputy County Attorney then <br />County Attorney, providing exceptional service to the citizens of Indian River County for more than 21 years; and <br />Whereas, Mr. DeBraal's career is defined by his honesty, integrity, mentorship and record of advocacy that <br />will be felt for long after he retires from Indian River County; and <br />-Whereas, as County Attorney, Mr. DeBraal worked on high -impact, long-lasting projects which have <br />benefitted the citizens of Indian River County, such as the widening and development of the 66' Avenue hurricane <br />evacuation corridor, the overseeing of local legal land development issues including residential subdivisions, work <br />on Spoon Bill Marsh, as well as serving as the Fair Housing Administrator for those in need of assistance and <br />defense from unfair treatment. <br />-Whereas, Mr. DeBraal worked diligently on County Commission while going above and beyond in providing <br />customer service and compassion to Citizens in need; and <br />-Whereas, as County Attorney, Mr. DeBraal elevated the organization by building a strong positive <br />workplace culture of comradery and kindness through his leadership and mentorship to the County Attorney office <br />team and interns over the year; and <br />-Whereas, Mr. DeBraal has served, guided and seamlessly led the county through some of its most trying <br />challenges, but has meted and bested those challenges by remaining true to his faith, ethics and inner moral <br />compass; and <br />'Whereas, Mr. DeBraal's complete commitment to his duties as County Attorney have brought great credit <br />upon himself and staff and contributed greatly to the continued positive image of Indian River County. <br />Naw, therefore, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, that the Board lauds the many contributions William K. DeBraal has made to Indian <br />River County during his lengthy tenure and wishes him the greatest success in all of his future endeavors. <br />Adopted this 20th day of August 2024.
