Vitunac, County Attorney <br />DATE: September 30, 1996 <br />RE: CANCELLATION OF OUTSTANDING TAXES <br />PROPERTY PURCHASED FOR COUNTY USE - <br />The County recently acquired some property and, pursuant to Section <br />196.28, Florida Statutes, the Board of County Commissioners is allowed <br />to cancel and discharge any taxes owed on the portion of the property <br />acquired for public purposes. Such cancellation must be done by <br />resolution of the Board with a certified copy being forwarded to the Tax <br />Collector and copies sent to the Property Appraiser. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: Board authorize the Chairman to sign the <br />attached resolutions cancelling taxes upon lands the County recently <br />acquired. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 96-127 cancelling certain delinquent <br />taxes upon publicly owned lands, pursuant to Section <br />196.28, Florida Statutes (Paradise Central Corp. CR - <br />512 at CR -510 Right -of -Way). <br />Re: R/W --CR 512 at CR 510 <br />Parcel #23-31-38-00000-5000-00005.3 <br />Paradise Central Corp. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96- 1 2 7 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />CANCELLING CERTAIN DELINQUENT TARES UPON PUBLICLY <br />OWNED LANDS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 196.28; FLORIDA <br />STATUTES. <br />WHEREAS, Section 196.28, Florida Statutes, allows the Board of County <br />Commissioners of each County to cancel and discharge any and all liens for <br />taxes, delinquent or current, held or owned by the county or the state, <br />upon lands heretofore or hereafter conveyed to or acquired by any agency, <br />governmental subdivision, or municipality of the state, or the United States, <br />for road purposes, defense purposes, recreation, reforestation, or other <br />public use; and <br />WHEREAS, such cancellation must be by resolution of the Boar d of <br />County Commissioners, duly adopted and entered upon its minutes properly <br />describing such lands and setting forth the public use to which the same are <br />or will be devoted; and <br />OCTOBER 8, 1996 28 <br />
