The Element ensures the resiliency of the community. A summary of <br />the changes that are proposed for the Coastal Management Element are as follows. <br />◊ Establish that Boat Facility Siting Zones will be established in the County’s Manatee Protection and Boating Safety <br />Comprehensive Management Plan and streamline Policy language related to requirements for projects to meet <br />specific criteria. <br />◊ Move regulatory language from the Plan to the LDRs. <br />◊ Suggested new policies to encourage coordination with appropriate agencies to fund and implement beach <br />stabilization projects and establish a prioritization process for shoreline stabilization and beach renourishment <br />projects based on benefit-cost ratios. <br />◊ Continue to address Sea Level Rise. <br />These recommended changes are important to better reflect the threats of flooding and sea level rise and the importance <br />of conservation measures. <br />Florida Statute Reference: Chapter 163.3177(6)(g). <br />PAGE 112
