The Director closed his presentation noting that $3.4 million <br />had been budgeted for this project across two years. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the manner and frequency of updates that would be <br />provided with an emphasis on remaining transparent regarding progress and <br />expenditures. It was agreed upon that Director Lieske would return to the Board <br />with informational items showing a milestones and a tally at the six month mark <br />and then quarterly after that. <br />Vice Chairman Flescher mentioned the ongoing interest in assessing the Gifford <br />water tower's value to the utility. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Earman, seconded by Vice Chairman <br />Flescher, to approve staffs recommendation. The motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />Aye: 5 - Chairman Adams, Vice Chairman Flescher, Commissioner Earman, <br />Commissioner Moss, and Commissioner Loar <br />13. COUNTY ATTORNEY MATTERS <br />13.A. 24-0471 Purchase Property for Fire Station #15 <br />Recommended Action: Staff seeks the position of the Board on whether to enter into the purchase and sale <br />agreement for the proposed Fire Station #15 site. If the Board chooses to approve <br />the Purchase and Sale Agreement, please also authorize the Chairman to execute <br />same. <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Purchase and Sale Agreement <br />Deputy County Attorney Susan Prado informed the Board that staff had negotiated <br />for purchase of land to build Fire Station 15 which was now in a temporary location. <br />Attorney Prado referred to a photo of the 10.5 acre parcel on the west side of <br />County Road 510, at a cost of $1.35 million. She also noted the sellers requested <br />language in the deed specifying the parcel could only be used for government uses. <br />Discussion ensued among the Board regarding the definition of "government uses" and <br />the vision for the property. Chairman Adams noted the fire station would need three <br />(3) acres, and the remaining seven (7) acres for the County's use. The top suggestion <br />so far was to create a public works facility which could be used as a staging area for <br />upcoming road expansion in the North County. Attorney Prado added that any future <br />use would have to come before the Board for a rezoning request. <br />Fire Chief David Johnson thanked the Board and staff, and informed that the fire <br />station was already funded and designed. <br />A motion was made by Vice Chairman Flescher, seconded by Commissioner <br />Loar, to approve staffs recommendation.
