The attached resolution (Attachment 1) authorizes the Chairman to <br />sign the Joint Participation Agreement with FDOT. A complete copy <br />of the JPA is available for review in the offices of the Board of <br />County Commissioners. Upon the Board's approval of the JPA and <br />adoption of the resolution, County staff will transmit the JPA to <br />FDOT. <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the <br />attached Public Transportation Joint Participation Agreement and <br />adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Chairman to sign the <br />agreement. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Joint Participation Agreement and adopted <br />Resolution 96-131 authorizing the signing of a <br />public transportation joint participation agreement <br />with the Florida Department of Transportation. <br />AGREEMENT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE <br />CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />RESOLUTION N0. 96-131 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF A PUBLIC <br />TRANSPORTATION JOINT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. <br />WHEREAS, funding under the Florida Public Transit Block Grant <br />program may be used as a portion of the required funding match for <br />grants under 49 USC Ch. 53, Section 5307 and 49 USC 1614; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has submitted an application for <br />funding assistance under 49 USC Section 5307, with the required <br />matching funds to come from local funds and a Florida Public <br />Transit Block Grant; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is eligible to receive grant <br />funding under Section 341.052(1), Florida Statutes, and under 49 <br />USC Ch. 53, Section 5307 and 49 USC 1614; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation will provide <br />a Public Transit Block Grant to Indian River County to assist in <br />the continuance and expansion of local public transportation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS THAT THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZES THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS TO SIGN A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION JOINT PARTICIPATION <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE <br />FUNDING ASSISTANCE TO BE USED AS A PORTION OF TBE REQUIRED FUNDING <br />MATCH FOR THE COUNTY'S FEDERAL TRANSIT ACT 49 USC CH. 53, SECTION <br />5307 GRANT FOR OPERATIONS FUNDING ASSISTANCE. <br />99 <br />OCTOBER 22, 1996 11 <br />a®oK �ac- 479 <br />
