ORDINANCE NO. 2025- 003 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY CODE CHAPTER 103, SECTION 103.22 "APPOINTMENT <br />TO THE CHILDREN'S SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE" <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 103 of the Indian River Code has been adopted to govern the <br />Commissions and Boards established by the Indian River County Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 103, Section 22 governs membership and procedures of the <br />Children's Services Committee and the Board desires to provide for more uniform <br />procedures and more effectively execute the duties of the Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board desires to make the Commissioner appointee the Chair and a <br />non-voting member in order to provide stability and direction to the Children's Services <br />Advisory Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to add an additional member to balance the Committee; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Children's Services Advisory Committee voted in agreement with this <br />amendment of the Code on December 10, 2024; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT: <br />Section 1. Enactment Authority. <br />Article VIII, section 1 of the Florida Constitution and chapter 125, Florida Statutes vest broad <br />home rule powers in counties to enact ordinances, not inconsistent with general or special <br />law, for the purpose of protecting the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the <br />county. The Indian River County Board of County Commissioners specifically determines <br />that the enactment of this ordinance is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare <br />of the residents of Indian River County. <br />Section 2. Code Amendments. <br />Indian River County Code Chapter 103, Section 103.22, Appointment to the children's <br />services advisory committee, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />(1) The membership of the children's services advisory committee shall consist of fifteen <br />(15) voting members who must be residents of Indian River County as follows: <br />CODING: Words in stroke through format are deletions to existing text; words in underlined format are <br />additions to existing text. <br />
