Appendix A - Scope of Work
Award Number: 6N234
Recipient: Indian River County Board of Commissioners
Award Title: C -6N234 FY23 Access Points
Award Period: 10/01/2024 - 12/31/2025
Problem Identification
The Indian River County Sheriffs Office's wireless infrastructure is lacking in several areas. The current
equipment is adequate for a consumer -grade business system, but not for enterprise -grade equipment as the
original system was set up for the short term. While the system has worked over the years, the agency's size
has grown and therefore, outgrown the system. The access points in use can neither handle the number of
users, nor support the range needed. The software used to manage the access points lacks the security needed
to properly split the different networks into separate subnets and service set identifiers (SSIDs). In addition,
there are blank spots throughout the agency that need more or better wireless coverage to be properly
implemented. There are multiple access points in use, this funding will help to refit about half of those points in
specific locations.
Scope of Work
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office will use JAG grant funds to purchase wireless access points and
wireless support licenses for each of the access points. The licenses provide three years of support,
management, and replacement, paid as a one-time fee. The access points will replace what is currently in use
in strategic building locations with stronger transmitters and larger antennas, covering a greater area. The points
will also be able to handle simultaneous users on each device. Additional areas that have low to no signal will
be covered without the need to completely refit and add more access points.
The management software licenses are crucial to making the system work by permitting the management of all
hardware from a single place, enabling telemetry and analytic features that are needed to help diagnose wireless
problems. The license fee covers two parts. In the event a hardware unit fails, the license covers support, repair,
or replacement of the unit as well as, the management software needed to control all the devices.
