Chandler <br />Coun Administrator <br />FROM: RoA Baker <br />Personnel Director <br />DATE: November 6, 1996 <br />RE: Trash, Junk, and Scrap Disposal Policy <br />BACKGROUND <br />Attached is a proposed policy regarding the proper disposition of <br />all trash, junk, and scrap in Indian River County, which shall be <br />incorporated into the Administrative Policy Manual. <br />Since no written policy or guidelines previously existed, county <br />materials were being disposed of by all departments using <br />different, unorthodox disposal methods. <br />This proposed policy also prohibits employees from removing any <br />material from county property. <br />RECOMMENDATION• <br />The Board of County Commissioners approve the attached revisions <br />to the Administrative Policy Manual effective November 12, 1996. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Tippin, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved <br />the revisions to the Administrative Policy Manual <br />effective November 12, 1996, as recommended by <br />staff. <br />SECTION NUMBER DATE EFFECTIVE <br />ADMINISTRATIVE <br />PERSONNEL AM -902.1 11-12-96 <br />POLICY <br />MANUAL SUBJECT PAGE <br />* TRASH, JUNK, AND SCRAP DISPOSAL 1 OF 1 <br />POLICY: <br />1. All County materials that are to be discarded as trash, junk, or <br />scrap shall be considered to be a commmodity capable of generating revenue <br />for the County and therefore must be disposed of in accordance with this <br />policy. <br />2. All such materials are to be taken to the landfill or the <br />recycling/collection centers or placed in containers at locations <br />designated for the purpose of recycling or waste disposal. <br />3. Once such materials are deposited, no one shall remove them from <br />County property, trash receptacles, or recycling/collection centers, <br />except in the performance of an employee's assigned duties. <br />4. Except for those items specifically authorized by public notice, no <br />material shall be removed from trash receptacles, the landfill, or the <br />recycling/collection centers. <br />5. Violations of this policy will be considered an infraction of AM - <br />801.1, paraagraph 2f, Behavior of Employees, Administrative Policy Manual. <br />NOVEMBER 12, 1996 30 <br />��� <br />
