The Study evaluated alternative roadway alignments associated with extending <br />Aviation Boulevard from the US to 36th Street. The purpose of the newly contemplated roadway corridor is to <br />serve as an alternative route to improve existing and future access to the Cleveland Clinic Indian River <br />Hospital, the medical services within this area, and provide traffic congestion relief to 37th Street, which is <br />nearing vehicular capacity. <br />On January 31, 2023, Amendment 1 to Work Order No. 51 was approved by the Board to allow for property <br />appraisals to be obtained by Kimley-Horn to complete the parcel evaluations associated with the alternative <br />alignments and evaluate the costs associated with acquiring the necessary properties. <br />POTENTIAL FUTURE BOARD ACTIONS <br />Aviation Boulevard Extension Design Phase, Aviation Boulevard Extension Property Acquisition and Aviation <br />Boulevard Extension Construction Phase contracts. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Aviation Boulevard Extension is a project listed on the Long Range Transportation Plan. The construction of <br />this segment will provide a continuous alternative route for US 1 to be established from US 1 to 411 Street. The <br />Florida Department of Transportation is currently in design phase for expansion and extension of the existing <br />Aviation Boulevard from the Airport to 33rd Street. <br />OTHER PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />N/A <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners approve Work Order No. 19 with Kimley-Horn & <br />Associates, Inc.in the amount of $46,720 and authorize the Chairman to execute the work order. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
