A TRUE COPY
V. SIM Card Test CERTIFICATION ON LAST PAGE
RYAN L. BUTLER, CLERK
Description
The purpose of this test is to demonstrate that the System Identification Memory (SIM) Card in the system
will hold configuration files saved to it and apply those configurations back to the channel unit as
necessary.
Instructions
Begin by ensuring that no alarms exist on the terminal to be tested. If any alarms are present troubleshoot
those alarms and then continue with the test.
Log on to the Terminal under test if you have not already logged on.
Connect a PC with the EM2 software installed via the serial connector on the front of the terminal labeled
"COMPUTER".
Open the EM2 software and on the initial log -in screen select "Serial" from the pull down and choose the
appropriate "COM PORT" that the PC is using.
Enter the username: "Admin" (note this cannot be changed) enter the password. The default password is
"password" which can be changed). Once the correct "Admin" and "User Password" is entered you will be
"logged on" and the displayed terminal icons will go from gray to blue to indicate communication with the
terminal under test.
Once the MNI MX/MXD channel unit is fully configured it should be save to the SIM card for use later use
as needed. To test this he current configuration will be saved to the SIM card and then a field will be
changed in the EM2 software but reverted back with the SIM card restore feature.
Copy the current running configuration to the SIM card by going to "Utility" and "SIM Card Utility" and
selecting the "Near End" then "Copy Configuration Parameters to SIM Card" and Select "YES" on the pop
up message.
Channel unit minor light will flash while the copy process is happening. Once it is copied a success or
failure message will appear. If it fails trouble shoot and repeat until successful.
Now the current running configuration is on the SIM card and can be used a means of backup for
replacement channel units.
Go to "Configuration" then "System" and Change the near end site name to "TEST -A" and Apply.
Go back to "Utility" and "SIM Card Utility" and selecting the "Near End" then "Copy Configuration
COMMUNICA7>ONS
INTERNATIONAL
Page 16 of e
