Item 7.A. <br /> VALUE <br /> ADJUSTMENT BOARD <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> To: Members of the Value Adjustment Board <br /> Date: July 22, 2025 <br /> Subject: Increased Filing Fee for Petitions Filed with the Value Adjustment Board <br /> From: Terri Collins-Lister, Supervisor <br /> Clerk to the Board and VAB <br /> Effective July 1, 2025, Section 8 of House Bill 7031 amends Section 194.013, Florida Statutes,to <br /> increase the maximum filing fee that a Value Adjustment Board (VAB) may impose to file a <br /> petition with the VAB from $15 to $50 per parcel The filing fee cannot exceed $50 for each <br /> separate parcel of property, real or personal, covered in the VAB petition and subject to appeal. <br /> No filing fee may be required with respect to an appeal from the disapproval of homestead <br /> exemption under s. 196.151 or from the denial of tax deferral under s. 197.2425. <br /> For joint petitions filed pursuant to s. 194.011 (3)(e), (f), or (g), a single file shall be charged and <br /> thereafter parcels similar in nature shall not exceed $5 per parcel for real property or tangible <br /> property account. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Request that the Value Adjustment Board review the survey on the <br /> proposed filing fees from other counties,discuss,and adopt a filing fee of an amount not to exceed <br /> $50 for the 2025 Appeal Cycle. <br /> - 17- <br />
