environment when improperly transported, disposed of, treated, or otherwise managed. The term does
<br />not include human remains that are disposed of by persons licensed under chapter 497. In addition to
<br />the foregoing definition, any material or substance identified in the Florida Administrative Code Rule 62-
<br />730, and 40 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 261 is also included. Hazardous Waste is not accepted at the
<br />IRC Class 1 Landfill.
<br />Holidays: Shall mean Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's
<br />Day.
<br />Household Hazardous Waste (HHW): The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
<br />defines household hazardous waste (HHW) as leftover household products that contain toxic, corrosive,
<br />ignitable, or reactive ingredients. HHW includes but is not limited to paints, cleaners, oils, batteries,
<br />pesticides, lawn chemicals, and fluorescent lamp bulbs.
<br />Landfill: The Indian River County Solid Waste Landfill.
<br />Legitimate Complaint: Shall mean any complaint where the provisions herein regulating Solid Waste,
<br />Program Recyclables, or Yard Waste collection were adhered to by the Customer and Contractor did not
<br />perform in accordance with such provisions.
<br />Mixed Recyclables: This consists of Old Corrugated Cardboard, Paper, Plastic Bottles and Jugs, Aluminum
<br />and Metal Cans, and Glass Bottles and Jars.
<br />Non -Accepted Materials: Non -Accepted Materials: Contractor shall reject prohibited waste or materials
<br />to include Hazardous Waste, Radioactive Waste, Biomedical Waste, PCBs, Bulk Liquids, Dead Animals,
<br />Flammable or explosive materials not known in Residential Household Hazardous Waste, contaminated
<br />soils, infection waste, Commercial Solid Waste, Commercial Yard Waste, Construction and Demolition
<br />Debris, out of County waste, asbestos, and other materials not identified as Accepted Materials.
<br />SWDD (or District): The Indian River County Solid Waste Disposal District, a dependent special district of
<br />Indian River County, Florida.
<br />Rate: The Board approved amounts to be charged by Contractor for services outlined within Contract.
<br />White Goods: shall mean inoperative or discarded appliances including, but not limited to, air
<br />conditioners, heaters, refrigerators, ranges, water heaters, freezers, and other similar domestic and
<br />commercial large appliances.
<br />Yard Trash: shall mean vegetative matter resulting from yard and landscaping maintenance, including
<br />leaves, grass clippings, shrubbery cuttings, palm fronds, tree branches and other similar matter generated
<br />by a customer at a residential or commercial property.
