The protection of er-itieal habitat sh- <br />by the USFWS for each protected species. <br />Policy 7.3, The raCet ity shall take meastifes <br />for- t4eatened or- endangered species, as well as nen t4eatened, non endangered spee The County <br />shall continue to implement its adopted Wetlands and Deepwater Habitat Protection Ordinance to ensure <br />maximum protection of wetlands and deepwater habitats by discouraging development activities <br />adjacent to or in such areas that may adversely affect wetlands and deepwater habitats, and to encourage <br />restoration of already degraded or destroyed systems. No alteration of wetlands or deepwater habitat <br />shall be allowed unless a wetlands/deepwater habitat alteration permit has been issued by County <br />environmental planningstaff. <br />Poliey 7.4: The eou-PAy shall fegulate land development aefivifies, as set fefth in Objeefives 1, 7 and 4-6 <br />of the Fitt fe Land Use Element [Redundant] <br />Policy 7.5: By 2011, the eeufAy; <br />the St. Sebastian River and the IRL. to protect the Fier-ida manatee and to pr-emete beating safety. The <br />County created a Manatee Protection and Boating Safety Comprehensive Management Plan in 2000. <br />The County shall use this MPP when reviewing proposals far new and expanded multi -slip docking. The <br />County shall continue to enforce the Manatee protection rules that are established by FWC encourage <br />the regulation of designated manatee speed zones, and promote boating safety. <br />Policy 7.8: The eCounty will apply the following criteria when reviewing the lighting plans for <br />beachfront development proposals in the unincorporated county: <br />a. —No light illuminate any area of the beaches during the period of the vear when sea turtles nest <br />(March 1 to October 31). Outdoor lighting shall be held to the minimum necessary for security <br />and convenience; <br />b. Floodlights shall be prohibited; <br />c. - Wall mou-p +oa light fixt es shall be fifted with hoods and lowwattage b u) ; All exterior light <br />fixtures and pole lights shall be fitted with shields and directed downward so that no light directly <br />or indirectly illuminates the beach. Such lighting shall be lamped with a long wavelength(560 <br />nm) light source such as amber or red-light emitting diodes LED), low pressure sodium or true <br />red neon as recommended by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission-, <br />d. ---Low=profile downward directed luminaries, with of shields shall be used in parking lots, <br />balconies, and along dune crosswalks; ; <br />e. —Tinted of filmed glass shall be used in windows and glass doors fronting the ocean on single <br />and multi -family structures; and, <br />f. <br />pr-essufe seditim bulbs are installed as an altemative to mer-eufy vaper- and high pr-essufe sodium <br />bulbs.
