BUTLER, CLERK <br />ARTICLE 24 <br />BEREAVEMENT LEAVE <br />24.01 Regular full time bargaining unit employees covered by this Agreement shall be granted <br />up to two shifts of leave with pay, or three (3) consecutive working days for those not on <br />a 24-hour shift, for death in their immediate family without charge to medical leave, annual <br />leave, holiday time, or other accumulated time, subject to the terms of the applicable <br />District Rules and Regulations. At the discretion of the Fire Chief or designee, employees <br />may split up the two shifts of leave with pay. All bereavement leave must be completed <br />within 90 days of the date of death. If bereavement leave is not utilized on consecutive <br />shifts/work days immediately following the notification of death and is later scheduled to <br />be used on a holiday, the leave must be approved by the Fire Chief. <br />24.02 For the purpose of this article, the immediate family shall include parents and step-parents, <br />spouse, children and step -children, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, brother, sister, <br />step -sister, step -brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter -in law, sister- <br />in-law, brother-in-law, or legal guardian of the employee. <br />24.03 Employees shall be required to provide documentation within 90 days supporting their <br />request for bereavement leave. <br />42 <br />
