Fp 7#74-.,, / I, 11 1 <br />DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH <br />-Whereas, domestic violence is a serious, widespread issue that affects individuals in every <br />community regardless of age, race, income, or education level, and leaves a lasting impact on survivors, <br />families, and communities; and <br />Whereas, more than one in three women and one in four men in the United States have <br />experienced physical violence, threats, or abuse from an intimate partner during their lifetimes; and <br />-Whereas, lingering health and economic challenges, and the continuing housing crisis have taken <br />their toll on mental health with increases in suicidal ideation and deaths, substance use, household <br />violence, food insecurity, and more; and <br />-Whereas, the effects of domestic violence extend beyond the immediate harm caused to survivors, <br />impacting children, workplaces, health systems, and entire communities; and <br />-Whereas, Safety. Support. Solidarity. is the theme for 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month, <br />uniting communities nationwide and here on the Treasure Coast in standing #WithSurvivors; and <br />-Whereas, it is vital to recognize the importance of SafeSpace's work and to encourage community <br />members, employers, faith leaders, and civic organizations to take action by raising awareness, learning <br />the signs of abuse, and offering compassionate support to survivors. <br />Wow, 7 erefore, be it Proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of ln&tan <br />River County, FCorida, that we recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and <br />encourage all citizens to support SafeSpace, honor the courage of survivors, and commit to ending <br />domestic violence. <br />Adopted this 7th day of October 2025.
