Proclamation <br />RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2025 AS CYBERSECURITY <br />AWARENESS MONTH IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />-Whereas, in 2004, through a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland <br />Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance, October was designated as National Cybersecurity <br />Awareness Month to provide Americans with resources to stay safe online and to raise awareness about <br />the importance of cybersecurity for all; and <br />'Whereas, the rapid advancement of technology continues to benefit our County, providing <br />countless opportunities for communication, business, and innovation; yet with the increasing use of digital <br />tools and systems comes the ever-growing risk of cyber threats, including data breaches, identity theft, <br />and cyber -attacks, which can have serious and far-reaching consequences; and <br />`Whereas, the 2025 campaign emphasizes building strong "Level 1" cybersecurity habits, such as <br />identifying phishing attempts, using strong authentication methods, and securing networks — to help every <br />individual establish a sound foundation for online safety; and <br />-Whereas, by working together to increase awareness of cybersecurity and cybersecurity best <br />practices, our community can reduce risks, protect sensitive information, and promote a safer digital <br />environment for all. <br />Now, ?'herefore, be it Proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, FCorida, that the month of October 2025 be designated as "Cybersecurity Awareness <br />Month" in Indian River County and the Board encourages all citizens to take action in improving <br />cybersecurity preparedness and resilience. <br />Adopted this 71 day of October 2025.
