BOOK 99 N,4037 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the conclusion of its November 13, 1996 workshop on <br />communications towers, the Board of County Commissioners indicated <br />that a second public workshop will be needed after staff obtains <br />tower/antenna needs projections from the communications industry. <br />Since the November 13th workshop, staff has met with industry <br />representatives and is obtaining industry 5-10 year needs <br />projections. By the second week in December, staff should have the <br />projections and additional staff analysis on potential regulations <br />for the Board's consideration. <br />Staff has coordinated with the Board office and industry <br />representatives regarding a workshop date. A date that appears to <br />accommodate the needs and schedules of the Board, industry <br />representatives, and staff is Thursday, December 19, 1996 at 10:00 <br />a.m. Staff has reserved the Commission Chambers for that time. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners set <br />Thursday, December 19, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission <br />Chambers as the date, time, and place for a second public workshop <br />on communications towers. <br />Commissioner Eggert requested that the meeting time be changed <br />to 9:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. <br />BY CONSENSUS, the Board scheduled the second workshop on <br />Communication Towers for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 1996. <br />VERO BEACH FIREFIGHTERS RELIEF AND PENSION FUND <br />PROPOSED RETIREMENT BENEFIT INCREASE <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 11/15/96: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, County Adm' istrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: November 15, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: Vero Beach Firefighters Relief and Pension Fund Proposed <br />Change to Provide For An Increased Retirement Benefit <br />The City Council for the City of Vero Beach has passed on first <br />reading the attached ordinance relating to a proposed change in the <br />Vero Beach Firefighters Relief and Pension Fund. <br />As noted in the proposed ordinance, in addition to other benefits <br />already being received, each fireman who retires, and any <br />participant who is receiving a benefit, shall receive a monthly <br />amount equal to the aggregate number of years of service completed <br />at the time of retirement, multiplied by $10.00 for each year of <br />service. This supplemental benefit would apply at this time to the <br />61 <br />DECEMBER 3, 1996 <br />
