We request that the Board of County Commissioners review the following at their regularly scheduled meeting <br />on December 10, 1996. <br />Background <br />For several years, the County's excess insurance coverages have been with the Florida League of Cities' Public <br />Risk Services pools, formerly known as the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust for liability and property <br />coverages and the Florida Municipal Self Insurers Fund for workers' compensation. Effective October 1, 1996, <br />the Board of Trustees of the workers' compensation fund and the health insurance fund, in which Indian River <br />County does not participate, elected to transfer their assets, liabilities, management and operations to the <br />Florida Municipal Insurance Trusk This merger strengthens the pool, consolidates administrative functions for <br />Its management, and makes it more competitive in the market Al coverages, policies and practices will remain <br />unchanged. To continue participation, each member entity has been asked to execute an application for the <br />newly merged pool. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the Board approve ongoing participation in the Fund, and authorize the chairman's <br />signature on three (3) original applications. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved <br />ongoing participation in the Florida Municipal <br />Insurance Trust Fund and authorized the Chairman to <br />sign three (3) original applications, as recommended <br />by staff in the Memorandum. <br />COPY OF APPLICATION HAS BEEN PLACED ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />H. Assignment of Lease to Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of <br />Child Abuse - Youth Manor <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of November 20, 1996: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners cj�/' <br />FROM: Terrence P. O'Brien - Assistant County Attorney VO v <br />DATE: November 20, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF ASSIGNMENT OF LEASE TO EXCHANGE <br />CLUB CENTER FOR THE PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE <br />(EXCHANGE) <br />Tne Youth Manor of Indian River County has requested that the County <br />as lessor approve the assignment of the attached lease to Exchange.
