Tuesday, January 7, 1997 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in County Commission Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero <br />Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, January 7, 1997, at 9:00 a.m. Present <br />were Fran B. Adams, Chairman; Carolyn K. Eggert, Vice Chairman; <br />Caroline D. Ginn; Kenneth R. Macht, and John W. Tippin. Also <br />present were James E. Chandler, County Administrator; Charles P. <br />Vitunac, County Attorney; and Patricia Ridgely, Deputy Clerk. <br />Chairman Adams called. the meeting to order and wished everyone <br />a Happy New Year. She made a few brief comments concerning the <br />recent National Championship Football Game between the Florida <br />State Seminoles and the University of Florida Gators. (Clerk's <br />Note: Gators won 52-20.) Reverend Bill Stone gave the invocation <br />and Commissioner Tippin led the Pledge of Allegiance to the <br />Flag. <br />• 1' <br />Chairman Adams thanked the Commissioners, staff, and former <br />Commissioner Dick Bird for their tolerance of her inexperience, <br />their patience, and their encouraging words. She declared that it <br />has been a real pleasure to serve as Chairman for 1996 and that she <br />was looking forward to being a regular Commissioner again. <br />ELECTION OF Cy <br />Chairman Adams opened the floor to nominations for Chairman of <br />the Board of County Commissioners for 1997. Commissioner Macht <br />nominated Commissioner Eggert and Commissioner Tippin seconded the <br />nomination. There being no further nominations, the Chairman <br />called for a vote. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously elected <br />Carolyn K.
