ROADS AND BRIDGES <br />STATEMENT OF FUNCTION <br />It is the responsibility of the Roads and Bridges division <br />to insure the safety and efficiency of the County's road <br />network through a regularly scheduled program of <br />maintenance, grading and paving. This involves the <br />maintenance and operation of traffic signals, fabrication <br />and maintenance of road signs and pavement marling <br />upkeep. <br />GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br />aL• Provide effective planning and implementation of <br />services through efficient use of facilities and personnel <br />and ensuring public safety while providing a safe, <br />convenient and efficient transportation system available <br />to all and at a minimum detriment to the environment. <br />Objectives: <br />► Improve the efficiency of traffic signals and signal <br />systems by bringing additional subsystems on-line <br />and added to the County Closed Loop System <br />a. Maintain a safety monitoring program to identify <br />70 <br />February 4, 1997 <br />locations with high accident rates and systematically <br />develop remedial programs. <br />► Continue to optimize traffic signal timing for all <br />traffic signals included in the County's "Closed <br />Loop" central computer traffic signal system <br />► Continue working with the FDOT and <br />municipalities in the County to develop an <br />integrated traffic control system for the County <br />roadway network. <br />aoo; IU 3 mU 03(1 <br />
