Mora, P.E. 01 <br />County Traffic Engineer <br />Fran Boynton Powell <br />Purchasing Manager <br />#� <br />COUNTYWIDE TRAFFIC SIGNAL RETIMING <br />AWARD OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES PROJECT TO FDSI, INC. <br />Attached RFP #7016 <br />DATE: January 30, 1997 <br />------------------------------------ <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The County's Traffic Engineering Division is in need of technical <br />support services in the area of traffic signal retiming. Expansion <br />of the County's computerized (Closed Loop) traffic signal system <br />and the continued traffic growth/additional traffic signals <br />throughout the County have resulted in a need for these services. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The County Traffic Engineering Division drafted an RFP (attached) <br />which described the traffic signal timing services needed. The RFP <br />was processed and advertised by the County Purchasing Department, <br />and in addition, was sent to six candidate consultant firms. The <br />lone respondent, Florida Database Systems, Inc. (FDSI) submitted a <br />proposal in November, 1996. The FDSI proposal has been reviewed <br />and approved by the County Traffic Engineering Division. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS & FUNDING <br />Staff recommends award of the technical support services project to <br />Florida Database Systems, Inc., the only firm to respond to the <br />RFP. Funding for the estimated $10,000 project cost will come from <br />fund 109 - Secondary Road Trust Fund. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously awarded the <br />technical support services project to Florida <br />Database Systems, Inc., the only firm to respond to <br />the RFP #7016, as set out in staff's recommendation. <br />FEBRUARY 11, 1997 <br />38 <br />r <br />
