Becker to the Economic Development <br />Council to replace Robert Carmichael. <br />C. 911 Communications Center Annual UPS Maintenance Agreement <br />Renewal - MGE UPS Systems (f/k/a EPE Technologies, Inca <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of February 18, 1997: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director ,� <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: February 18, 1997 <br />SUBJECT: Renewal of 9-1-1 Communications Center Annual UPS Maintenance Agreement <br />with MGE UPS Systems (Formerly EPE Technologies, Inc.) <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given- formal consideration <br />by the Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. : <br />The maintenance agreement for the UPS system at the 9-1-1 Communications Center has been <br />in effect with the referenced company since 1990 and is renewed on an annual basis. The <br />agreement is necessary to provide annual maintenance of the batteries and other components of <br />the UPS system to preclude a failure of the 9-1-1 equipment at the Communications Center. <br />MGE UPS Systems is the sole manufacturer of the 9-1-1 equipment used at the Communications <br />Center and since the technology is proprietary pursuant to the attached letter, maintenance must <br />be performed by MGE Field Engineers. <br />The Agreement provides the same level of service at no increase in the $7,500 cost for FY <br />1996. <br />RECONS ENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Board authorize renewal of the UPS maintenance agreement with MGE <br />UPS Systems in the amount of $7,500, to be paid from funds allocated for this purpose in the <br />current fiscal year 9-1-1 surcharge (133) budget. <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1997 8 <br />
