t"N t -. <br />BOOK 12-00 FAGc 10 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF MARCH, 1997 <br />AS RED CROSS MONTH IN <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS Chapter of Indian River <br />County has been serving our community by providing information, <br />training and assistance to individuals and families for the past <br />sixty-one (61) years; and <br />WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS is the lead voluntary agency <br />to meet the human needs of individuals or families affected by <br />personal emergencies and disaster; and <br />WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States designates the <br />AMERICAN RED CROSS as the lead voluntary agency responsible for <br />national and international relief in time of peace and to apply <br />the same in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, <br />famine, fire, floods, and other great national calamities, and to <br />devise and carry on measures for preventing the same; and <br />WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS Chapter of Indian •River <br />County has trained thousands in our community in essential <br />skills, such as First Aid, CPR, HIV/AIDS Education and Water <br />Safety Education, and provided materials and information on <br />family disaster preparedness, saving untold numbers of lives; and <br />WHEREAS, the President of the United States has designated <br />March as AMERICAN RED CROSS Month, a promotion to encourage our <br />community to obtain training in First Aid, CPR, HIV/AIDS <br />Education, Family Disaster Preparedness and other lifesaving <br />skills: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the month of <br />March, 1997 be designated as <br />RED CROSS MONTH <br />in Indian River County, and the Board recognizes the AMERICAN RED <br />CROSS as the lead voluntary agency to meet the immediate needs of <br />individuals and families preparing for and affected by disaster, <br />and in First Aid, CPR, HIV/A.IDS Education, and Water Safety. <br />The Board further urges the community to strive to attend <br />the events and training offered by the AMERICAN RED CROSS of <br />Indian River County during the AMERICAN RED CROSS Month, and to <br />obtain the information and training -which will help our families <br />prevent, prepare for and cope with emergencies and disasters. <br />Adopted this 4 day of March, 1997. <br />MARCH 49 1997 a <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />J_L"�t-/2'e4� <br />Carol I <br />K.
