BOOK 100 FADE 891 <br />H. Resolution Urging Continued Appropriation of Funding for <br />Preservation 2000 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 97-020 urging the continued appropriation <br />of funding for Preservation 2000. <br />Resolution No. 97- 2D <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />URGING THE CONTINUED APPROPRIATION OF FUNDING <br />FOR PRESERVATION 2000 <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County have advanced <br />environmental land preservation efforts with voter approval to <br />locally fund a county wide preservation program; and <br />WHEREAS, Preservation 2000 is a ten-year program designed to <br />acquire and therefore save Florida's best remaining natural land, <br />and is the State's most comprehensive land protection program; and <br />WHEREAS, Florida's population growth and conversion of natural <br />areas continue to threaten our natural systems; and <br />WHEREAS, Preservation 2000 offers an opportunity for funding <br />partnership between Indian River County and the State to protect <br />environmentally significant lands and support the implementation of <br />our county comprehensive plan; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County recognizes the important of <br />Preservation 2000 in enabling the implementation of conservation <br />goals, growth management and comprehensive land use plans: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA: <br />Section 1. That the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners hereby urges the Legislature of the State of Florida <br />to: <br />A. Appropriate funding for a eighth series of <br />Preservation 2000 bonds. <br />B. Designate a permanent funding source for the <br />Remaining years of the Preservation 2000 program. <br />Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately <br />upon adoption. <br />The Resolution was moved for adoption by -Commissioner <br />Ginn the motion was seconded by Commissioner Tippin, and upon <br />being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: <br />Chairman Carolyn K. Eggert Aye <br />Vice Chairman John W. Tippin Aye <br />Commissioner Fran B. Adams Aye <br />Commissioner Caroline D. Ginn Aye <br />Commissioner Kenneth R.
