bogs FADE M <br />Based upon a review of the amount of work involved in fulfilling <br />the county's planning related duties and responsibilities <br />associated with the Transportation Disadvantaged program, staff has <br />determined that $4,000.00 of the funds allocated for the planning <br />grant can be transferred to the CTC for provision of non -sponsored <br />transportation disadvantaged trips. If approved, the $4,000 will <br />supplement non -sponsored trip/equipment funds and will be utilized <br />by the Community Transportation Coordinator (I.R.C. Council on <br />Aging) to provide transportation services to transportation <br />disadvantaged clients. Since the total number of passenger trips <br />and the total vehicle trip miles provided through the CTC are two <br />of the factors included in the state formula for distribution of <br />trip/equipment funds to the CTCs, any increase in the number of <br />trips provided through the Community Transportation Coordinator <br />will also increase the Community Transportation Coordinator's <br />chance of getting more trip/equipment funding for the next FY. <br />On April 24, 1997, the Transportation Disadvantaged Local <br />Coordinating Board discussed and recommended approval of the FY <br />1997/98 Planning Grant application. <br />The purpose of the planning grant application is to obtain funds to <br />cover the planning related costs involved with fulfilling the <br />county's duties and responsibilities associated with the state <br />mandated transportation disadvantaged program. The grant monies <br />are needed to provide monetary support to the county for the <br />continued provision of planning related services in conjunction <br />with the local transportation disadvantaged program. <br />Failure to apply for the grant will result in a lack of funding <br />from the state for planning related services which are mandated by <br />the transportation disadvantaged program. <br />The Board has three major alternatives. One is to apply for the <br />grant funds as recommended by staff and the TDLCB. The second <br />alternative is to apply for the entire amount allocated for the <br />planning grant and not transfer any funds to the trip/equipment <br />fund. The third alternative is to not apply for the grant funds, <br />an action which would make the county ineligible for reimbursement <br />of monies expended for planning related services. <br />The TDLCB and the staff recommend that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the transmittal of the FY 97-98 Planning <br />Grant application to the state CTD as proposed by staff. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved the <br />transmittal of the FY 97-98 Planning Grant application to <br />the Florida CTD, and adopted Resolution 97-38 authorizing <br />the filing of the Application, pursuant to recommendations <br />by staff. <br />COPY OF APPLICATION IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />MAY 6 199 2 4 <br />� e r <br />
