� � s <br />Hewitt Contracing Company, Inc. is pre -qualified for this kind of work with the state and has <br />completed a number of projects for the state and local governments. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $1,416,545.89 <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS: Traffic Impact Fees, District 3. <br />BUDGETED AMOUNT: Account No. 101-153-541-067.71, $2,000,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the bid be awarded to Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc., Florida as the <br />lowest, most responsive bidder meeting specifications for construction of CR512 Corridor <br />Improvements, Phase B. The Contract Agreement is now being presented for approval and <br />execution by the Chairman and attesting by the Clerk. We have had four (4) Contract <br />Agreements executed in the original by the proposed contractor, Hewitt Contracting Company, <br />Inc. Staff will work closely with Risk Management and the Attorney's Office in getting those <br />offices' approval of the insurance certificates and bonds prior to issuing the Notice to Proceed. <br />ALTERNATIVES & ANALYSIS <br />Alternative No. 1. The Board award the contract to Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc. and direct <br />the Chairman to execute the agreement on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. Staff <br />further recommends that the Board direct that all bonds, insurance certificates and other <br />formalities as required by the terms of the contract and bid documents be submitted and approved <br />by the appropriate staff departments responsible, including the Attorney's office prior to issuance <br />of a Notice to Proceed by the Department of Public Works. <br />Alternative No. 2 The Board reject the bids and not award the contract <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY Commissioner <br />Macht, the Board unanimously awarded the contract to Hewitt Contracting <br />Company, Inc., Florida; authorized the Chairman to execute the agreement <br />on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners; and directed that all <br />bonds, insurance certificates and other formalities, as required by the <br />terms of the contract and bid documents, be submitted and approved by <br />the appropriate staff departments responsible, including the Attorney's <br />office, prior to issuance of a Notice to Proceed by the Department of <br />Public Works, as recommended in the Memorandum. <br />45 <br />MAY 279 1997 <br />MY 101 PAGE 624 <br />
