PROCLAMATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br />PROCL4MA770NDESIGNATING THE WEEK OF JUNE 22-28,199 7 AS AMATEUR <br />RADIO WEEK <br />Chairman Eggert presented the following Proclamation to Sherri Brower: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF <br />JUNE 22-28, 1997 AS <br />AMATEUR RADIO WEEK <br />IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the County of Indian River has more than 300 licensed <br />Amateur Radio operators who have demonstrated their value in public <br />assistance by providing emergency radio communications; and <br />WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators donate these services <br />free of charge to the County, in the interest of the citizens of <br />the County as well as the world; and <br />WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators are on alert for any <br />emergency, local or worldwide, and practice their communication <br />skills during the American Radio Relay League's Field Day exercise; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the year 1997 has been declared the "American Radio <br />Relay League Year of Public Service" in recognition of the critical <br />importance of public service activities by the amateur radio <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, this year's Amateur Radio Field Day will take place <br />on June 28-29, 1997: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the week of June <br />22-28, 1997 be designated as <br />AMATEUR RADIO WEEK <br />in Indian River County, in recognition of this important <br />preparedness exercise.
