<br />Sheriff Wheeler stated that he had examined his budget, looking for various ways to
<br />fund the 3 positions and had come to the conclusion that none of the alternatives would be
<br />good for his department. He felt it is better to have fewer people with better equipment to
<br />enable them to do their job. You need manpower but they must have quality equipment for
<br />public safety.
<br />Chairman Eggert questioned whether this grant would be available next year during
<br />budget time and was advised this is an open-ended program so there is no way to know in
<br />advance.
