RENEWAL OF "CLASS E" CERTIFICATES OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE <br />AND NECESSITY TO PROVIDE WHEELCHAIR TRANSPORTATION - <br />ABLE TRANSPORT - ALL FLORIDA MEDICAL TRANSPORT - <br />AMERICAN RED CROSS - ASSOCIATION OF RETARDED CITIZENS - <br />CITY CAB OF VERO BEACH - VETERAN'S MEDICAL TRANSPORT - <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING - INDIAN RIVER <br />MEMORIAL HOSPITAL <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of October 14, 1997: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler <br />County Administrator \ <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director te)" <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: October 14, 1997 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Renewal of "Class E" Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity <br />to Provide Wheelchair Transportation <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given formal consideration by <br />the Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On August 31, 1995, during the regular meeting of the Transportation Disadvantaged Local <br />Coordinating Board, the Board recommended to the County Commission that an ordinance be <br />adopted to require a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) for the regulation <br />of non -emergency medical (ambulatory) transportation and wheelchair services. <br />On Tuesday, September 19, 1995, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />approved regulations governing wheelchair services as outlined in County Ordinance, Chapter 304, <br />Life Support and Wheelchair services. The Providers who were currently under contract with the <br />Transportation Coordinator completed the applications and were award two year certificates on <br />October 24, 1995. <br />OCTOBER 21, 1997 <br />:� <br />� � r <br />
