BOOK A3 <br />FAGE.'168 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97- 134 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, TO THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE <br />OF FLORIDA IN SUPPORT OF CLARIFYING THE <br />OBLIGATION OF THE STATE TO PROVIDE <br />ARTICLE V FUNDING FOR THE CRIMINAL COURT <br />SYSTEM. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County feels it would be fairer to all its taxpayers to <br />have the law amended to clarify that the obligation of funding the criminal justice <br />system should be by the state and not by the counties; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County feels that it should be constitutionally required <br />that the state fund the criminal court system sufficiently; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board urges the <br />Legislature of the State of Florida to pass an amendment to the state constitution to <br />change the wording of Article V to require that the state be required to fund the criminal <br />justice system. <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Ginn and the motion <br />was seconded by CommissionerTi pp nand, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as <br />follows: <br />Chairman Carolyn K.
