PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, on November 1 and 2, 1997, the Children's Art Festival, <br />organized by the Center for the Arts, will celebrate its <br />seventeenth anniversary; and <br />WHEREAS, the theme for this year's festival will be "ART AND <br />NATURE". This event provides the opportunity for hands-on art <br />experiences for young people of all ages, pre-schoolers through <br />teens. The entire family can enjoy the student art displays, <br />entertainment, music and food available throughout the day; and <br />WHEREAS, the reason the Children's Art Festival came into <br />existence was because there was a concern by those involved in <br />establishing a Center for the Arts that the youth of the area were <br />underexposed and given limited opportunities to participate in visual <br />arts activities. Since the inception of the Children's Art Festival <br />sixteen years ago, art instruction in the school systems, both public <br />and private, has increased significantly making art and humanities <br />awareness an enriching part of the lives of the young people in our <br />community: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that November 1 and 2, 1997 <br />be designated as <br />CHILDREN'S ART FESTIVAL WEEKEND <br />in Indian River County, and the Board expresses its appreciation <br />to the many hard working volunteers for instituting and continuing <br />this fine program for the youth in our community. <br />Adopted this 28 day of October, 1997. - <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER -COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />e2.t, rl L.� <br />CAROLYN .
