ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously authorized the <br />Chairman to sign the Grant Award and Special Conditions <br />documents, as outlined in the letter. <br />COPY OF GRANT AWARD IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />ZK. Proclamation - Jeannette Becker Riel <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously proclaimed <br />December 10, 1997 as Jeanette Becker Riel Day in Indian <br />River County. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIdNATING DECEMBER 10, 1997 rrEM -7.1< <br />AS JEANETTE BECKER RIEL DAY <br />IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL joined forces with the <br />Women's Suffrage movement in 1919 and marched for women's rights; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL was associated with the <br />national, state and local election system, and appointed to the <br />Missouri State and National Business and Professional Women in 1920; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE assisted with actions leading to the ratification <br />of the nineteenth amendment to the Constitution in 1920, and she was <br />instrumental in helping many responsible women of high integrity run <br />for and win elections to offices of leadership; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE has exhibited complete understanding of the <br />grass-roots process and its use in turning people out to vote. She has <br />been a tireless organizer of volunteers and precinct workers, and <br />has inspired more people and stuffed more envelopes than anyone <br />in the Republican Party of Florida or Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, her work as State Committeewoman has meant great <br />gains for men and women in the Republican Party; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL received many honors for her party <br />affiliation and worked diligently to make the world a better place <br />for Republican men and women to take their part in leadership: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Indian River County Board <br />of County Commissioners that December 10, 1997 be designated as <br />JEANETTE BECKER RIEL DAY <br />in Indian River County, and that she be honored by all the citizens of <br />this community for her dedication to the revolution of women in <br />leadership. <br />Presented December 10, 1997, and made part of the permanent record <br />of Indian River County at the Board of County Commissioners meeting held <br />on December 9, 1997. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Carolyng.
